Contretemps

Contretemps
This lady was cross. I think she was cross with the police guys in the car, who seemed quite happy to let the community types brush her off. I mean, why bother getting out of the car if they're already communing with the community, right?

Is this Gregor Samsa?

Is this Gregor Samsa?
Or just a top-hatted dude with a stripey shirt, lying on his back pretending to be a dog having his tummy tickled? Or just apparently collapsed while doing a drunken zombie/ghoul/sneaky-monster walk? Not that either of those wouldn't be quite good in its own right, but I don't know, maybe I read too much into these things. Maybe I just try to connect things up too much. Anyway, nice picture. So it goes.

Starbucks duties

Starbucks duties
Something of a regular lunchtime haunt for crew patrolling St. Pancras International. I guess they just can't keep away from that frothy cream. Me, I prefer Patisserie Paul, just round the corner, but different strokes for different folks, right?

Bat-bike & car

Bat-bike & car
I think what happens is that the bonnet of the car opens up and the bike comes zooming out of the front, allowing the chap doing the driving to carry on high-speed pursuit. Yep, that's it.

Long trek

Long trek
This chap had ever so slight an air of world-weariness in his gait. Or maybe it was in my eyes. Dunno.

Damn

Damn
There were three of these guys all in a line watching the trains - they come, they go - but as you can see, in my haste I blurred 'em and got my hand in the way. Curses.

Lone guard

Lone guard
This stretch of pavement, though usually inhabited by a variety of police vehicles, on this occasion played host to a single, unoccupied, unmarked car, accompanied by a similarly solo officer, marked out in contrast for all to see.

Alfie

Alfie
Apparently Alfie's a bomb dog. According to the little card the police officer gave me when I expressed an interest in Alfie, this means that he's highly trained in sniffing out explosives, rather than that they regularly feed him nitro-glycerine or Semtex. Which is something of a relief. Anyway, he wasn't getting any of my biscuit, cute or not.

Buying all the pastries

Buying all the pastries
Snapped this chap calling out to his pastry accomplice, waiting for the last of the batch to be brought to the till for purchase and eventual consumption.
