I think what happens is that the bonnet of the car opens up and the bike comes zooming out of the front, allowing the chap doing the driving to carry on high-speed pursuit. Yep, that's it.

There were three of these guys all in a line watching the trains - they come, they go - but as you can see, in my haste I blurred 'em and got my hand in the way. Curses.

This stretch of pavement, though usually inhabited by a variety of police vehicles, on this occasion played host to a single, unoccupied, unmarked car, accompanied by a similarly solo officer, marked out in contrast for all to see.
